Care, Share and Inspire – Climate Wisdom from COP28 on November 30, 2023
2023 has been the hottest year on record so far, as reported by the ‘World Meteorological Department’, leaving behind a trail of devastation and a climate collapse – observed the moderator Golo Pilz, advisor for renewal energy, Brahma Kumaris. This set today’s context to the live ‘Climate Wisdom Studio on Care, Share & Inspire’ from Dubai, UAE. The experts for this evening were: Diane Shisk, International Reference Person for Climate Change in Re-evaluation Counseling; Rob Wheeler, Global Ecovillage Network and the Commons Cluster, UNEP and Sister Jayanti, Additional Administrative Head of the Brahma Kumaris.
“We must learn to listen without judgement. That encourages others to express and release their emotions which not only makes them feel better, but their minds clear up, they can think better and can face situations,” said Diane Shisk. She also brought out the importance of purging racist patterns and beliefs so we can listen to indigenous people stand together as we tackle the issues of climate change.
Rob Wheeler stated that “we must start teaching children about climate change because they are going to be inheriting the world soon. Additionally, schools should go green, we must introduce climate education for students, have train the teachers on this subject and build or transform communities to be climate resilient.”
This body, made from the five elements of nature, is extremely precious. But what is more precious”, Sister Jayanti continued to explain, is that I am the inner being, the soul. We need to cultivate the habit of shifting our awareness from this physical body to looking at the self and others as the ‘inner being’. This way we overcome the barriers of age, gender, race and so on. The vision of brotherhood then truly becomes a reality. Care, compassion and treating all with dignity comes very naturally. This is the answer not only to climate change, but to every problem that we are facing in the world today.
Sr. Jayanti then lead the audience into a deep experience of peace through a guided commentary.
